From RAGs to Riches
By Apisoghom AghaSaveMelkonian.org Correspondent Following the “Armenian Tsunami” that is expected to hit this year (a phrase coined by pro-Ramgavar columnist Mehmet Ali Birand), the next will be the “Melkonian Tsunami”. This is a tidal wave that was sparked by an inhumane action on March 16, 2004, and is building up momentum that will eventually destroy everything corrupt and dirty that it finds in its path. When everything subsides in the aftermath of the disaster, a new healthy Melkonian will come out with a promising future to assure the next generation of ‘lost boys’ that WE CARE! The present generation of terrorized and persecuted Melkonian students also care, showing exemplary seriousness with the ‘Tsunami Relief Concert’ they performed on Wednesday night, March 2nd. This was an evening of remembrance and respect for the hundreds of thousands of Asians and others who perished in the Indian Ocean disaster. It showed, once again, that the students have the courage and the will to stand up to the corrupt leadership of a dollar-driven Central Board in New York and say “We are better than you!” and “We have feelings, you don’t” as well as “What do YOU know about national pride?” The performance was a great success, with Armenian, Greek and international dances, music and singing by some of the sweetest voices heard recently, recitations of testimonies from Tsunami survivors and a finale by a rock band called… “ANONYMOUS”. Everybody enjoyed the show, especially as it was for a good cause. Students were charging Cy 3 pounds per person and 50c for kiddies with all the proceeds going to UNICEF, represented at the concert by the local director, Mrs. Panayiotou. I don’t know as yet how much was collected, but one thing is for sure: more could have been collected if only the AGBU Representative, Mr. Scrooge, had shown up (didn’t want to waste his hard-earned 30 silver coins) together with his faithful servants. Most of the teachers were there, some even with their children, but the majority of the school’s stingy Armenian staff were absent, unwilling to contribute their 3 pounds for Tsunami relief. You have shown your true faces. AMOT! So, whatever the amount collected, add another 100 pounds to the total that SHOULD have been collected. Nobody expected to see Hrach, Karekin or Nazo (the Holy Trinity “administering” the school’s finances) at the performance, which shows how much they care about the students or even Tsunami relief. I don’t know about the latter two, but Hrach was possibly recovering from his losses at the Turkish casino in the north he had been to a few days earlier. Ironically, he was spending his AGBU-funded dollars aiding the Ankara Generals, at the same time (literally) that his Ramgavar brothers in Cyprus and Boston were writing that filthy attack on the Patriarch of Constantinople. Isn’t it ironic that on the one hand Ramgavars accuse Archbishop Moutafian of being a Turkish agent, when their own brother is contributing directly to the Turkish economy? Who’s the agent now, then?
Insh’allah!
